Overview
When Accounting is enabled, EDGE Sword links operational finance — invoices, payments, expenses — to a chart of accounts. Capital tracks equity injections, withdrawals, and asset-related funding separate from day-to-day revenue.
Chart of accounts
Administrators maintain accounts under Settings → Finance → Chart of accounts. Each account has a type (asset, liability, equity, revenue, expense) used for trial balance and export.
| Account type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Asset | Cash, accounts receivable, inventory |
| Liability | Accounts payable, tax payable |
| Equity | Owner capital, retained earnings |
| Revenue | Product sales, service fees |
| Expense | COGS, salaries, rent |
Posting from operations
Confirmed invoices, payments, and approved expenses can post journal entries automatically when account mappings are configured. Mappings define which ledger accounts receive debits and credits for each transaction type. Bank accounts from Payment settings typically map to cash or bank ledger lines; commission and credit control balances feed receivables and exposure reports respectively.

Lock closed periods to prevent backdated changes. Reopen only with accounting.admin permission.
Please note:
- Locked periods reject backdated operational postings; reopen a period only when corrections are unavoidable and your role includes accounting.admin (see Roles, permissions, and RBAC).
Capital movements
Record owner contributions and draws under Finance → Capital. Capital entries adjust equity accounts without passing through customer invoicing. Tie capital transactions to assets or projects when tracking funded investments.
Finance reports combine operational and accounting views. Before accessing ledger screens, confirm your workspace has the finance modules enabled under Configure your workspace and that your role includes accounting and capital permissions.
