EDGE Sword delivers notifications when records change, tasks are assigned, or workflows fire. Understanding channels and preferences helps teams stay responsive without alert fatigue.
Please note:
- Workflow-driven alerts require the Workflows module and a configured automation — see Build your first workflow.
- Approval notifications only reach users with permission to act — review Workflow approvals when designing escalation paths.
Notification channels
| Channel | When it fires | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| In-app | Real time while signed in | Assignments, mentions, approvals |
| Digest or immediate | Off-hours alerts, external stakeholders | |
| Workflow | Triggered by automation | Escalations, reminders, status changes |
In-app notifications appear in the header bell. Unread items persist until dismissed or acted on.
What triggers notifications
Common triggers include:
- A record is assigned to you (lead, deal, task)
- A workflow sends a notify action
- An approval step requires your decision
- A comment or @mention on a record you follow
Module availability and permissions still apply — you only receive alerts for records you can access.
Manage your preferences
- Open your profile menu
- Go to Notification settings
- Toggle channels per category (assignments, approvals, system)
- Save
Administrators cannot override individual email opt-outs for marketing-style messages, but workspace-level workflow notifications still respect module permissions.

Start with in-app only for high-volume modules, then enable email for time-sensitive approvals or SLA-driven workflows. For workspace setup context, see Welcome to EDGE Sword.
